Looking for Jobs

Our helpful assistant is nearing the end of her 2nd year in college. That only means one thing – she, as well as her classmates, would need to find jobs for her OJT. We have been racking our brain where she should apply. Since it’s more probable that she wouldn’t be paid for her on-the-job training we are very careful in choosing where she should work. First, if it’s possible we would like her to find work near our home so she wouldn’t need to pay for her fare. Good thing there are two schools in our area. She can really benefit in a school setting and she can learn a lot there even if it doesn’t involve teaching the kids. She would likely work inside the office and assist the teachers and the principal. I hope they are in need of a trainee and also that she gets accepted. She really needs the job as part of her curriculum in college.

Buying Online Helps the Environment

I wasn’t aware of this but now that I’ve read it I admit it does make sense. Did you know that you contribute to the environment if you go shopping online? According to a green study by Carnegie Mellon University online shopping reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 35% compared to buying in retail stores.

Say you have to buy a laptop. You need to drive your car to the store and then drive home after that and so does the thousands of people who also want to buy a laptop at the store. If you buy it in an online store like Buy.com, for example, the laptops will be delivered straight to your home by a light vehicle and the vehicle will save time, trips, and carbon emissions by going straight to the next house to deliver instead of you going back and forth.

I already knew it saves me money, time, and energy to have the stuff delivered straight to me but now that I know that I’m helping the environment too now I surely have more reason to shop online.

This must be the coolest birth date ever. Ella Rose Riehle is just a few days old but she’s already getting famous – for her birth date. Born via normal delivery, she popped out at not only the right date but also the right time. She was born last August 9, 2010 or 8/9/10 at 11:12 pm making her birth numbers 8-9-10-11-12. Now, how cool is that?

There are also charts, fun activities, and recipes I can cook with my child. If you want a copy, just go to the nearest Fully Booked outlet. Fully Booked has lots of books on variety of topics, even about portable oxygen concentrators. The best thing about them is they have copies for browsing so you can check the book first before you buy it.

I Won an Award

Two weeks ago, I got the shock of my life when I found out I won a prize for my post for the Johnson and Johnson Bedtime Discovery. I never expected that I would win anything. So yesterday, we went by at Nuffnang’s office to pick up my trophy and my gift certificate.

Hubby and Z were both proud of me. I told Z he was the reason I won so he gamely posed with our awards. This is the first time I won anything in such a long, long time that’s why I’m extra happy.

Psychic Octopus

Have you heard of the story of the psychic octopus who correctly predicted results of all games of team Germany in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa? There is such an octopus and he even has a name. Paul, that’s his name, is given a jar containing the flags of the competing teams and whoever he picks first would win the game. He successfully predicted that Germany would win over Australia and Ghana and lose over Serbia and Spain. If you still think I’m kidding then watch this actual video of him predicting Spain’s win over Germany.

If you think Paul is a genius then what would you think about the person who discovered Paul’s so-called “ability?” Who would have think that an octopus…??!! Nah, maybe he just had too much time in his hands.

Home Service Massage

One of hubby’s wants is having massages. He always request it from me and although I don’t give it to him as much as he wants I try my best to massage him. I know what he really wants is a full body massage. He’s working hard and he’s not getting any younger so it’s understandable that he feels the different aches and pains in his body. He has no time to get a massage outside because of his already busy schedule. That is why I’m thinking of calling a masseuse that can do a home service. The only thing I’m wondering is how can the masseuse massage my hubby effectively without a massage table which we don’t have at home. So I did some research and found out that they can use a massage table cart to carry the massage table to different homes. Now that my question has been answered I will definitely call one to ease some of hubby’s aches and pains.

Preparing for the Rains

The rainy season is about to come. Living in this country we’re already used to our place being wet half the year but ever since the great flood happened last year we are extra nervous about the coming rainy season. Last year’s flood submerged Metro Manila in flood and this house is not an exception. So we’re already taking some extra precautions like buying rain boots for each member of the family in case we need to walk through flooded waters. It’s doubly scary because everybody is predicting that the same flood will repeat this year but I’m still hoping for the best. I’m just keeping in mind that nobody predicted the flood last year and it’s the same this year nobody can predict when the next one will happen.

Blue Screen

My sister-in-law was using the laptop so I used the desktop for the first time in a long, long time. I had a lot of things to do so I was excited to get to work but when I turned it on it gave me the blue screen or the blue screen of death as my husband called it and it really gave me creeps. Thrice it gave me that and rebooted on its own. I thought it was okay after the video card incident. Finally, I gave up and decided to sleep. The next day, hubby used the computer and was faced with the same problem but unlike what happened to me in a few minutes he was able to fix the problem.

Celebrity Diary Now PR 1

I was worrying about my trip to my OB and thinking about lying on the exam table again when I suddenly realized that this blog has regained its PR 1. During the last April update it went from 0 to 1 but just for a few days. I always wondered what happened and why it lost its PR but I was so happy that my other blogs’ PR remained so I didn’t mind it. Just this first week of June, Google has again updated the PRs and hurray for giving back Celebrity Diary’s PR.

Google’s Page Rank does not guarantee more traffic but it’s still nice to see the green bar in my screen. I hope in the next PR update – which will be in July – one of my blogs finally reach PR 3.
