One thing that I learned from my grandma is to be frugal. She raised me single handedly. Now that I am a mother and raising two kids with my husband I can’t help but wonder how she did it. It must have been tough raising his granddaughter and taking care of his elderly father and surviving on a teacher’s salary. She must have scrimped and saved coins to make ends meet. She did a great job, in my opinion, because although I don’t have that much toys I felt well taken cared of. She even saved enough for me us to ride an airplane to visit my aunt in Samar every summer.
Those memories are now just memories. It’s now my turn to raise my own kids. I hope I can do a good job of it just like my grandma.
