History of Ties

Do you believe that everything, even the grandest ones, come from humble origins? Well this is also the case with bow ties. However, most people may be disinterested in knowing the history of this fashion garment. But for the benefit of those in the world of fashion and those who would just want to know, then let us dig in to the history of ties.

Back during 17th Century, the bow tie has already been used. It has been used before by the Croatian mercenaries who were off to France to support King Louis. So what was it used for then? The bow ties were needed so that their shirts are securely closed. Shirts back then did not have enough buttons that s why the mercenaries used bow ties around their necks. Nowadays, bow ties are used for two reasons. First, it is still used to keep uniforms closed. Second, it is used, especially by soldiers, for protection against cold weather, harsh wind and rain. We may add a third reason; for social gatherings and other practical purposes.
