New Year’s Eve

Contribution by Archie Watts

New year’s eve is only weeks away so I thought I’d fill you in on my last few new year’s eve nights. First of all, I usually spend the night with my roommates and friends. My roommates and I live in a tiny place owned by my parents in the city. After setting the ADT home security alarm (at my parents insistence for anytime we leave the place at night), we headed on over to the subway station to meet up with our other friends. Getting over to Times Square can be a drag because of the crowds, but it’s always worth it. The atmosphere is crazy and there are people from all over the world there ready to celebrate the ball dropping. Most people are in a good mood and the drinking is non-stop. I swear I had never lost my voice before until I started going there for new year’s eve. After the ball drops and the confetti flies, we made are way around the city back to the park where you can hear live bands as people are dancing on the streets and just having a good time in general. I don’t know if it’s the booze, but those bands really rock. I wonder if any of them have or will ever become famous? Anyway, we ended the nights by making our way home and having a little sleepover.
